Opting to bowl first, Samoa struggled with discipline, conceding 21 extras, including 18 wides. Pakistan’s batters capitalised on the opportunity.
Opener Maham Anees provided a steady start, scoring 28 off 42 balls. Her innings included three boundaries. Middle-order contributions from Manahil (17 off 17 balls) and Fatima Khan (25 off 14 balls) kept the scoreboard ticking. Fatima’s quick-fire innings featured three fours and a six, lifting Pakistan to a competitive 136 for 8 in 20 overs.
Samoa’s standout bowler, Norah Jade Salima, claimed impressive figures of 3 for 20 in her four overs. However, the lack of support from the rest of the bowling attack allowed Pakistan to maintain momentum.
Chasing 137, Samoa got off to a shaky start. They lost three wickets within the first three overs. Haniah Ahmer, Pakistan’s opening bowler, dismantled Samoa’s top order with her fiery spell. She returned figures of 4 for 17 in her four overs.
Samoa’s opener Verra Farane scored 19 runs. However, regular wickets derailed their chase. Samoa were eventually bowled out for 84 in 18.5 overs.
Leg-spinner Quratulain chipped in with 2 for 13. Further on, Fatima Khan added to her all-round performance with 2 for 19.
Despite early setbacks in the tournament, Pakistan finished on a high note. Their campaign included an abandoned match against the USA, losses to England and Ireland, and this final victory over Samoa.
