In a remarkable performance, Pat Cummins took a hat-trick against Bangladesh during their T20 World Cup Super 8 clash in Antigua on Friday. This achievement came just hours after Cummins was awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2023.
Cummins, Australia‘s Test and ODI captain, dismissed Mahmudullah, Mahedi Hasan, and Towhid Hridoy in quick succession. This feat made him the fourth Australian to achieve a hat-trick in T20Is and the second Australian, after Brett Lee, to do so in a T20 World Cup.
This outstanding bowling performance restricted Bangladesh to 140/8.
Pat Cummins’ hat-trick was celebrated widely across the cricket community, marking another significant milestone in his illustrious career. Riding on Cummins’ fine performance, Australia strengthened their position in the T20 World Cup Super 8s.
