Indian cricketers Prithvi Shaw and Yuzvendra Chahal, both playing for Northamptonshire, have kept fans entertained with their light-hearted banter on social media as they gear up for the County Championship Division Two. The camaraderie between the two players has been a source of amusement, with Shaw and Chahal engaging in playful exchanges.
It all started with Chahal sharing a photo of Shaw filling fuel at a gas station, to which Shaw responded by posting an image of Chahal napping in the passenger seat of a car. The banter continued on August 21, when Chahal once again shared a picture of Shaw at a gas station. Shaw humorously replied on Instagram, saying, “Aap se jaldi bharvauga (Will make you fill soon).”
Shaw had an impressive stint in the One Day Cup for Northamptonshire, finishing as the leading run-scorer for his team with 343 runs in eight innings, including three half-centuries. Despite Shaw’s performance, Northamptonshire managed to win only two out of their eight matches, missing out on a spot in the quarter-finals.
Chahal, on the other hand, made a significant impact in his debut for Northamptonshire in the One Day Cup 2024, where he took a remarkable five-wicket haul against Kent. His figures of 10-5-14-5 were instrumental in bundling out Kent for just 82 runs, leading Northamptonshire to a comfortable nine-wicket victory.
Both players will now focus on the County Championship, with Chahal set to play five matches for Northamptonshire. The team’s campaign begins on August 22 with a match against Middlesex at Northwood.
