Shardul Thakur has started IPL 2025 strongly by picking crucial wickets for LSG. In the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Thakur picked up 4 wickets for 34. He dismissed explosive batters like Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma. Ishan Kishan scored a century in the last match against Rajasthan Royals. He could have been a destructive force against LSG too. But Thakur dismissed the batsman in one delivery. Before Kishan, he had taken the wicket of Abhishek Sharma the previous delivery.

Shardul went on to pick 2 more wickets- Abhinav Manohar and Shami. Against the dectructive lineup of SRH, Thakur made crucial contributions to restrict the side to 190.

Shardul unsold in the mega auction

Shardul Thakur has played many crucial knocks and taken important wickets for India and multiple franchises. However, he went unsold in the mega-auction before IPL 2025. No team bid for him. He played for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. But he was not retained, nor was he offered a bid. However, he was brought in as a minute replacement in the Lucknow Super Giants side.

He has proven everyone wrong and shown his abilities. He performed well in the first match too by picking up crucial wickets against the Delhi Capitals (DC). However, LSG lost the match when DC batters went berserk. The all-rounder has, thus, taken 6 wickets in just 6 overs.

He has taken 104 wickets in 96 matches.
