Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) may get a major boost ahead of their IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians (MI). Sunil Narine, who missed the last game due to illness, is likely to return. He has resumed training and looks fit to play on March 31 at Wankhede Stadium.
Narine practiced at Wankhede alongside Andre Russell. He focused on range-hitting and bowling drills. His return will strengthen KKR’s batting and bowling.
Reports suggest that Narine is stable and under medical observation. A KKR source said:
“Sunil Narine is recovering well. He has a strong chance of playing against Mumbai Indians on March 31.”
If cleared, Narine may replace Moeen Ali in the XI. Moeen performed well against Rajasthan Royals, but KKR values Narine’s experience.
Narine played well in KKR’s first match against RCB. He scored 44 off 26 balls and took 1/27 in four overs. Despite his efforts, KKR lost by seven wickets.
KKR bounced back against Rajasthan Royals and won their second match. Narine’s return could help them build momentum.
KKR has struggled against Mumbai Indians in the past. MI has dominated their head-to-head record. With Narine back, KKR hopes to turn the tables.
If Narine plays:
If Narine is unavailable, Moeen Ali may retain his spot. KKR will confirm his availability before the match.
