Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are finalizing their player retentions ahead of the IPL 2025 season. According to sources, the franchise is set to retain South African power-hitter Heinrich Klaasen, Australian all-rounder and team captain Pat Cummins, and Indian all-rounder Abhishek Sharma. Klaasen will reportedly be the top retention, securing INR 23 crore, while Cummins and Abhishek are expected to stay with contracts worth INR 18 crore and INR 14 crore, respectively.

Heinrich Klaasen’s rise in the T20 format has made him one of the most valuable players in the IPL. His retention at INR 23 crore marks a significant 338% increase from the INR 5.25 crore SRH paid for him in the 2023 mini-auction. Cummins: Leading SRH to the Final

Cummins’ deal for INR 18 crore is a 12.2% reduction from his 2024 price, but his value as a leader and all-rounder remains indispensable. Head had an outstanding IPL 2024, finishing fourth on the overall run-scoring list with 567 runs at a strike rate of 191.55. His explosive partnership with Abhishek was a game-changer for SRH throughout the season.
Reddy, a young talent who recently debuted for India in the T20I series against Bangladesh, impressed in his IPL 2024 stint. With 303 runs at a strike rate of 142.92 and three wickets, Reddy proved to be a reliable all-rounder. His retention reflects SRH’s commitment to building a core of young players for future success.
IPL 2025 Retention Rules and Purse
For IPL 2025, franchises can retain up to six players, with a maximum of five capped players (Indian or overseas) and two uncapped Indians. The purse for the 2025 auction is set at INR 120 crore, with specific retention slabs for players: INR 18 crore, INR 14 crore, and INR 11 crore for the first three capped retentions.
