Team India Skipper Suryakumar Yadav Faces Minimal Media Presence with Just Two Reporters in Press Conference

As Team India prepares to take on Australia in a 5-match T20I series, a startling revelation emerged as stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav faced a notably low turnout in his first press conference. With only two journalists present, the sparse media presence raised eyebrows, especially considering the considerable attention garnered during the recent World Cup.

Veteran cricket journalist Vimal Kumar shared the surprising detail on X, expressing his astonishment at the sharp decline in media attendance. “From 200 odd media people (during World Cup) to just two in the press conference in India is staggering!” Kumar remarked. He also pondered whether this marked a record for the fewest attendees in an Indian cricket press conference.

Suryakumar Yadav’s World Cup Reflections

Addressing the media, Suryakumar Yadav opened up about the emotional aftermath of the World Cup final defeat on November 19. Despite the disappointment, Yadav acknowledged the positive aspects of India’s campaign, emphasizing the pride in the team’s display of talent throughout the tournament.

“It is a little disappointing, obviously. At the end, when you look back at the journey, it was a really great campaign. Every member, not only the players, all of India were very proud of the way we displayed our talent on the ground. That was the positive, the brand of cricket that we played throughout the tournament. And we are really proud of that,” expressed Yadav.

Reflecting on the defeat, Suryakumar Yadav highlighted the challenges of overcoming such setbacks. “It is difficult. It will take time. It can’t be that you get up next morning, and forget everything that happened. It was a long tournament. Obviously, we would have loved to win. But you got to look at the light at the end of the tunnel. You have to forget and move on,” he explained.

As India gears up to face Australia in the T20 series, the focus now shifts to on-field performances, and Suryakumar Yadav, despite the subdued press conference, is expected to lead the team with resilience and determination.
