SKY was also full of praise for his bowlers. “Varun’s preparations are spot on, and Arshdeep is taking on extra responsibility,” he shared. Hardik Pandya also played a key role with the new ball, allowing India to include an extra spinner in the XI.

Gambhir’s Influence on Team Freedom

Suryakumar lauded head coach Gautam Gambhir for fostering a fearless approach in the team. “There’s a lot of freedom given by Gauti bhai. We want to play a bit differently,” he said.

The captain also emphasized the importance of improving fielding. “We’ve been working hard on fielding, and taking those half-chances can make all the difference,” he added.

Abhishek Sharma Steals the Show

Abhishek Sharma was the star of India’s chase, smashing 79 off just 34 balls. His explosive knock included five boundaries and eight towering sixes, punishing England for a dropped catch early in his innings.

Chasing 133, India made light work of the target, finishing the game in just 12.5 overs. Sanju Samson chipped in with a quick 26 off 20 balls.

Bowlers Set up India’s Win

Earlier, India’s bowlers put on a clinical display to bowl England out for 132. Chakravarthy led the attack with figures of 3/23. Moreover, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets each.

For England, Jos Buttler fought a lone battle. The English skipper scored a gritty 68 off 44 balls. None of the other batters managed to cross 17 runs.

India’s commanding win gives them a 1-0 lead in the series. The teams will face off next in the second T20I at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on January 25.
