India’s newly appointed bowling coach Morne Morkel had an intense discussion with all-rounder Hardik Pandya ahead of the Bangladesh T20I series. Reports suggest that Morkel was unhappy with Pandya’s approach during a net session, particularly regarding his bowling action and positioning near the stumps.
During the training session in Gwalior, Pandya was practicing his bowling when Morkel noticed he was bowling too close to the stumps. According to a report by The Indian Express, Morkel, typically reserved, was constantly communicating with Pandya, advising him to adjust his run-up and release point. Morkel focused on improving Pandya’s shadow practice and correcting his delivery stance.
Once the session with Pandya was completed, Morkel shifted his attention to left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh and debutants Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav, who were called up for the T20I series.
India recently completed a 2-0 sweep over Bangladesh in the Test series, and the focus now shifts to the upcoming 3-match T20I series, which kicks off on Sunday. Young players such as Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav will look to showcase their skills after strong performances in the IPL. Meanwhile, players like Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, and mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who returns after a long absence, are eager to make the most of their opportunities.
