In a moment that blended on-field intensity with trademark Kohli charisma, Virat Kohli once again stole the limelight during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s emphatic win over Punjab Kings on Sunday. While his unbeaten 73 anchored RCB’s chase, it was his cheeky Punjabi exchange with PBKS spinner Harpreet Brar that had fans talking long after the match ended.
Kohli’s infectious energy took a humorous turn when he was caught on the stump mic teasing Harpreet Brar during the second innings. With a playful smirk, the RCB stalwart said in Punjabi, “20 saal ho gaye cricket khelte… I even know your coach.” Brar burst into laughter, and the light-hearted moment quickly went viral on social media.
The clip of their interaction was widely shared across platforms, with fans enjoying the banter between the two Punjabi cricketers. The camaraderie offered a refreshing contrast to the fiery send-off Kohli gave Nehal Wadhera earlier in the match after running him out.
The match itself was one-sided, with RCB chasing down Punjab’s 158-run target in just 18.5 overs. Devdutt Padikkal found form after a long drought, scoring a fluent 61 off 35 balls—his first IPL fifty in 22 innings. Kohli, meanwhile, paced his innings to perfection, finishing unbeaten on 73 from 54 deliveries.
The duo added 103 runs for the second wicket in just 11.3 overs, ensuring there were no hiccups in the chase. Padikkal’s elegance complemented Kohli’s calculated approach, which included a stunning inside-out six off Yuzvendra Chahal that had the crowd roaring.
This victory kept RCB’s unbeaten away record intact and lifted them into the top four of the IPL 2025 points table.
Earlier, Punjab Kings started brightly after being put into bat, with openers Priyansh Arya (22) and Prabhsimran Singh (33) adding 42 for the first wicket. However, their innings lost momentum quickly once Krunal Pandya dismissed Arya. The middle-order collapse saw PBKS lose three wickets for just 14 runs.
Krunal (2/25) and Suyash Sharma (2/26) spun a web through the middle overs, while poor shot selection from the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Josh Inglis hurt the Kings’ prospects. Nehal Wadhera’s run out only added to their woes.
Punjab ultimately posted a below-par 157/6, a total that proved inadequate against an in-form RCB batting lineup.
