Virat Kohli’s on-field energy took center stage again during the IPL 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Mullanpur. A comical run-out involving PBKS batter Nehal Wadhera left fans in splits—and Kohli’s animated celebration only added to the drama.
The moment unfolded when Nehal Wadhera and Josh Inglis got caught in a mix-up while attempting a risky single. Both players ended up at the same end, leading to a straightforward run-out orchestrated by Virat Kohli and Tim David. Wadhera was dismissed for just 5 runs.
Kohli, known for his passionate celebrations, didn’t hold back. After executing the dismissal, he was seen mimicking a confused gesture—presumably directed at Wadhera—that quickly went viral on social media.
“Virat Kohli celebration after getting run out. He is pumped,” posted a fan on X, sharing the video clip that set cricket Twitter buzzing.
PBKS had begun well, with openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh adding 42 runs for the first wicket. But once the partnership broke, the middle-order collapsed. Shreyas Iyer (6) and Nehal Wadhera (5) fell cheaply, derailing their momentum.
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl first. The team made one change, bringing in all-rounder Romario Shepherd for the underperforming Liam Livingstone.
“We’re going to bowl first. Batting second gives clarity on the wicket. Shepherd comes in for Livi,” Patidar explained.
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer also preferred bowling first but said they were ready to adapt.
“We also wanted to bowl, but we must adjust based on the conditions. First afternoon game for us—hopefully, we put up a solid total,” said Iyer.
Interestingly, this was a quick rematch between the two sides—PBKS had defeated RCB just a few days ago in Bengaluru. But Kohli’s fire and RCB’s fielding sharpness made sure the contest in Mullanpur began with high energy and drama.
