Punjab Kings lost their match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad recently in Hyderabad. However, an injury to Lockie Ferguson in the match might turn out to be their biggest loss. PBKS coach James Hopes has provided fresh information about Lockie.
Lockie Ferguson played the match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. PBKS new ball bowlers were being dealt with ruthlessly. Thus, Shreyas Iyer, PBKS captain, decided to give the ball to Lockie Ferguson in the sixth over of the inning. It was also the last over of the power play.
Ferguson tried to bowl the over. But after his second delivery, he started feeling uncomfortable. As it turned out, he couldn’t bowl the next delivery. He was taken off the field by the physio immediately. His over had to be completed by bringing in Marcus Stoinis.
Amidst all the speculations and rumours about Lockie Ferguson’s injury, PBKS coach James Hopes has come up with an update. What he has said might raise alarm bells for PBKS and their fans.
Hopes said, “Ferguson is out indefinitely, I think, and us getting him back by the end of the tournament is a very low percentage. I think he’s done a real decent injury to himself.”
Despite a great start to the tournament with 2 strong wins, PBKS have not been able to stamp their authority on the tournament so far. In the three matches since, they have lost 2. The only game they have won was against CSK, who are placed at the bottom of the table.
They lost against the Rajasthan Royals by a heavy margin of 50 runs. Chasing a target of 206 runs, they could only score 155. In their last match against SRH, their batting lineup did a wonderful job of taking them to their highest total so far in the season. They scored 245 runs.
However, their bowling attack floundered. They could not contain runs as SRH won the game with 9 balls to spare. In the absence of Lockiw Ferguson, it is going to be a tough situation for the Punjab Kings.
