India has announced a strong 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, with Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav making their much-anticipated return. The squad will also play a three-match ODI series against England as preparation for the ICC event. Skipper Rohit Sharma will lead the team, with Shubman Gill as vice-captain.
Both Bumrah and Kuldeep’s selection came after injury concerns. Bumrah has been recovering from a back injury sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, while Kuldeep had hernia surgery in November. Bumrah’s participation in the England ODIs, however, remains uncertain, with Harshit Rana named as his backup.

In a notable move, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included in the ODI squad for the first time. Known for his consistent performances in domestic cricket, Jaiswal is set to be the reserve opener, providing a left-handed option in the top order.
The squad retains a familiar middle-order lineup, including Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul. All-rounders Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar bring depth and balance to the team. Rishabh Pant will accompany Rahul as the second wicketkeeper.
On the bowling front, Mohammed Shami makes his return alongside Arshdeep Singh, who earned his spot with stellar performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kuldeep Yadav strengthens the spin department, joining Sundar and Jadeja.
India’s Champions Trophy journey begins on February 20 against Bangladesh in Dubai. The team’s other group-stage matches are against Pakistan on February 23 and New Zealand on March 2. All games will be played in Dubai, as India has declined to travel to Pakistan.
Before the marquee event, India will face England in three ODIs. The matches are scheduled for February 6, 9, and 12, in Nagpur, Cuttack, and Ahmedabad, respectively. These games will provide crucial practice for the team ahead of the high-stakes tournament.
Note: Harshit Rana will replace Bumrah for the England series if needed.
