Mayank Yadav Set to Rejoin LSG After Injury Clearance from BCCI’s Centre of Excellence

Lucknow Super Giants have received a major boost as speedster Mayank Yadav is set to rejoin their IPL 2025 squad on Tuesday. BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru has cleared him to play after assessing his recovery from multiple injuries. Although the coaching staff will decide his playing timeline, the green light from the medical team has put him back in contention.

Toe injury delayed return after lumbar stress recovery

Mayank reported to the CoE before IPL 2025 began due to a lumbar stress injury. Initially projected to return in early April, his comeback was further delayed by a toe injury. Last week, head coach Justin Langer confirmed Mayank was nearing full fitness, sharing that he bowled at 90 to 95 percent intensity in training.

“He’s been working very hard at the NCA. I saw footage of him bowling — he was quick and looked sharp. It’s great news for Indian cricket and IPL fans. There’s hardly been a bowler in India who has bowled as fast as Mayank,” Langer said.

LSG banking on Mayank’s pace for mid-season push

Mayank made his IPL debut last year and played just four matches but still turned heads with his raw pace and control. He clocked over 150 kph consistently and picked up six wickets in those games. Though an injury ruled him out midway through the season, he later returned to play three T20Is for India.

LSG showed their faith in Mayank by retaining him for ₹11 crore ahead of IPL 2025. Now sitting fourth on the points table, LSG will face CSK at home on Monday before traveling to Jaipur to play the Rajasthan Royals on April 19. With Mayank returning, the franchise hopes to gain further momentum in the crucial mid-season phase.

Mayank’s return not only strengthens LSG’s pace arsenal but also adds firepower that could be vital in the playoff race.
