MS Dhoni has achieved yet another milestone in the IPL. In the match against LSG, Dhoni stumped Ayush Badoni off the bowling of Jadeja to reach the mark. With this, the duo of Dhoni and Jadeja have taken 19 wickets, second only to Pant and Rabada.
The Lucknow Super Giants were batting first against the Chennai Super Kings. Opting to bowl first, CSK did a good job of dismissing LSG’s in-form batters. Nicholas Pooran, the Orange Cap holder, was dismissed by Anshul Kamboj for 8 runs. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh got out to Jadeja after scoring 30 off 25 balls.
After the initial fall of wickets, Ayush Badoni and captain Rishabh Pant seemed to be steadying the LSG ship. Badoni hit a couple of sixes to assert his dominance over the CSK attack. However, things changed when Jadeja came on to bowl.
Jadeja, who had already dismissed Marsh, was bowling his third over when Badoni tried to take him on. On the first ball of the over, Badoni tried to switch hit the bowler. However, he only got a faint edge that saved him from being plumb in front of the wicket.
On the fourth ball of the over, Badoni charged down the wicket to hit Jadeja for a maximum. However, sensing the situation, Jadeja bowled it short and wide of off. The ball was bowled at 108.6 km/h. Dhoni made no mistake and stumped Badoni cleanly. The batter wasn’t even in the frame, as he was completely bamboozled by the ball.
The stumping had to be reviewed to see whether Dhoni’s hands were completely behind the stumps. However, after thorough scrutiny, the third umpire approved the stumping.
With this wicket, Dhoni completed 200 dismissals in the tournament. He is the first player to achieve this. He took 271 matches to reach the milestone of 200 wickets. Dinesh Karthik is the second keeper on the list with 174 dismissals.
