The match between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Chennai Super Kings was being played in Lucknow. However, if one had to look at the crowd and their support, it would have felt like being in Chennai. There was a sea of yellow as CSK defeated LSG by 5 wickets.
Chennai Super Kings were constantly losing games in IPL 2025. In the six games played before the match, they had won only one. That game was their first in the season as they defeated arch-rivals Mumbai Indians.
Since then, they have had a terrible record as they lost 5 matches back-to-back. It was the longest losing streak for the team. They also lost 3 consecutive home games, a first for the franchise.
The match against LSG brought smiles to CSK fans. They finally ceased their descent and registered a win with the efforts of Dhoni, Dube, Ravindra and Shaik Rasheed. Earlier, they had restricted LSG to a total of 166/7 in 20 overs.
MS Dhoni has been facing a lot of criticism recently for his performances in the season. The batter seemed to be coming to this own only when CSK had already won or when the required run rate was so high.
In the match against LSG, Dhoni came out to bat at number 7. CSK had already gotten a healthy start as debutant Shaik Rasheed and Rachin Ravindra made sure their team was never behind the required run rate.
For the Dhoni fans, it was a treat to remember. He came to bat at the end of the fifteenth over when Vijay Shankar was dismissed. CSK seemed to be in a bit of trouble, as the required run rate was skyrocketing. However, Dhoni showed his capabilities and started finding boundaries right away.
He went on to score 26* off just 11 deliveries. He hit 4 boundaries and 1 six to take his team to victory. The quick cameo at the strike rat of 236.36 ensured that CSK did not lose another game.
