Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shikhar Dhawan has called upon the team’s fans to bring their vocal support to the fore as they prepare to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their upcoming IPL 2024 match. The match, scheduled to take place at the newly-constructed Mullanpur Stadium in Mohali on April 9, holds significant importance for both teams, as they seek to improve their standing in the IPL points table.
PBKS and SRH have had a mixed start to their IPL 2024 campaign, with both teams securing two wins and suffering two losses in their first four matches. Despite a strong start to the season, PBKS are yet to find their rhythm, and a win against SRH could be pivotal in propelling them up the standings.
In a press release issued by PBKS, Dhawan expressed his eagerness to play in front of the home crowd and emphasized the role of the fans in motivating the team.
Shikhar Dhawan said
“We, as players, always want our fans to be the loudest. And Punjab fans already have it in their blood to be vocal and expressive at all times. So, we are delighted to return to our home crowd and cannot wait to meet with everyone who comes out to cheer for us at the stadium,” Dhawan said.
The match against SRH presents an opportunity for PBKS to continue their winning streak at home, having defeated Delhi in their IPL 2024 season opener at the Mullanpur Stadium. Sanjay Bangar, the team’s batting coach, echoed Dhawan’s sentiments and called on the fans to help maintain the team’s unbeaten record at their new home ground. “Whenever we are playing at home, our fans always have it in them to be the loudest, and their constant support always inspires us to leave no stone unturned to get the desired results,” Bangar said.
PBKS will be looking to capitalize on the support of their fans and secure a victory against SRH, which could see them climb higher in the IPL 2024 points table. The match is expected to be a closely contested affair, with both teams eager to secure a win and improve their position in the tournament standings.
