Mitchell Starc has finally revealed the reason of staying out of the Champions Trophy tournament. While other two senior Australia pacers, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are dealing with their respective injuries, for Starc the reason is a bit different.

Starc reveals reason

According to Cricket Australia Starc is not participating in the Champions Trophy due to personal reasons. However, Starc has shared details of the same in the Willow Talk podcast. “There’s a few different reasons, some personal views, and had a bit of ankle pain through the Test series [against Sri Lanka].”, Starc has informed. “So just get that one right, obviously we’ve got the Test final coming up and a West Indies tour after that. There’s some IPL cricket as well, but my main one top of my mind is that Test final so get my body right, play some cricket in the next couple of months and then ready to go for the Test final.”

Meanwhile Australia are playing the Champions Trophy without their three pace weapons Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc. While India are already through to the semifinals, Australia are not far away.

Starc to play in IPL

Starc will take part in the IPL 2025 for the Delhi Capitals scheduled to begin on March 22. Delhi will play their opening game on March 24 against Lucknow Super Giants. Their last group match is scheduled to be played against Mumbai Indians on May 15. The IPL final will be played on May 25.

Starc’s Australia will be up against South Africa at Lord’s for World Test Championship in June. The defending champions are aiming to become the first side to win the title twice. Starc had a major role in Australia’s qualification in the WTC final especially in the series against India where he claimed 18 wickets. No wonder IPL followed by the national duty will demand the match-fit pace batter to give his best.
