Why Fazalhaq Farooqi Isn’t Playing Today’s IPL 2025 Match 6 Against KKR

The sixth match of IPL 2025 features the Rajasthan Royals (RR) facing off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Winning an important toss, Kolkata Knight Riders’ captain Ajinkya Rahane has elected to bowl first, citing dew as a major factor. However, the big news ahead of the match is the absence of Fazalhaq Farooqi from the RR playing XI. Wanindu Hasranga comes in his place.

Kolkata Knight Riders Opt to Bowl First in Guwahati

Ajinkya Rahane, leading the Kolkata Knight Riders, cited the prospect of dew coming in later as the reason behind his decision to bowl first. He mentioned that the wicket looks good, and they’ll get an idea about the wicket by bowling first. ” It’s about staying positive, this format is all about being fearless, playing with intent. We played very good cricket. T20 is all about giving your best each and every day,” Rahane mentioned at the toss.

The Knight Riders’ side is playing with key bowlers like Spencer Johnson, Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana, and Varun Chakaravarthy in their lineup, alongside Andre Russell and Moeen Ali. Ali is making his debut for the franchise.

Parag proud to captain the RR side

Riyan Parag, captaining the RR side, has expressed delight in leading the team. “Very proud, very humbled to be leading a franchise like this. I started when I was 17 years old. The management has shown faith in me, it’s something I can’t really put in words,” Parag said.

Why Fazalhaq Farooqi is not playing today

Rajasthan Royals has made one change to their team. Wanindu Hasranga comes in the place of Fazalhaq Farooqi.
