Cricket Australia (CA) has officially unveiled the schedule for the highly anticipated 2025-26 Men’s Ashes series. The historic five-match series between Australia and England, one of cricket’s oldest and most fiercely contested rivalries, will kick off with the first Test at Perth Stadium from November 21-25, 2025. The dates were announced during a special event at Scarborough Beach, Perth, with the support of the Western Australian government.
The series opener, known as the “West Test,” will be followed by the Day-Night Test at the Gabba in Brisbane (December 4-8) and the traditional Christmas Test at Adelaide Oval (December 17-21). The iconic Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is scheduled from December 26-30, with the New Year’s Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) set to wrap up the series from January 4-8, 2026.
Ashes Dates Announced in Line with CA’s Long-Term Scheduling Plan
The release of the Ashes dates marks an early reveal, ahead of the focus shifting to this summer’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India. The decision to announce the Ashes schedule more than a year in advance is part of CA’s seven-year international scheduling plan, aimed at providing fans, governments, and tourism sectors greater certainty in planning and preparing for major cricket events.
Joel Morrison, Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager of Events and Operations, highlighted the growing excitement surrounding the 2025-26 Ashes series. “We are pleased to announce the dates for the five Men’s Tests to enable fans across the world to lock in their travel plans,” said Morrison. “Beginning with the West Test at Perth Stadium, the 2025-26 Ashes dates align with our recently released seven-year international schedule.”
Morrison emphasized the global allure of the Ashes, referring to it as one of the world’s most iconic sporting events. “The history and excitement of the Ashes make it one of the fiercest rivalries in cricket, and we are delighted to extend this electrifying competition over two summers,” he added, referencing the upcoming 2024-25 Women’s Ashes series, which will feature a historic Day-Night Test at the MCG.
Western Australia Poised to Host First Ashes Test
The series will commence in Western Australia, a region with a proud cricketing heritage, which will host the opening match at Perth Stadium. Rita Saffioti, Western Australia’s Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism, expressed the state’s pride in hosting the start of the Ashes. “Western Australia has a long and incredibly proud cricketing history, so we’re thrilled to be hosting the first Ashes Test in November 2025,” she said.
Saffioti also highlighted the convenience of travel for English cricket fans, noting the direct flight between London and Perth that operates year-round. “It’s even easier for cricket-mad English fans to escape their winter and head to Australia for an incredible summer of cricket, starting here in Perth,” she remarked.
Beyond the cricketing action, Saffioti encouraged international visitors to explore the broader attractions of Western Australia, including Rottnest Island, Swan Valley, Fremantle, and the state’s stunning natural landscapes.
Growing Interest and Travel Plans for the Ashes
Cricket Australia has already been inundated with requests from fans around the world eager to attend the 2025-26 Ashes series. As part of its strategy to meet demand, CA is urging fans to register with the Australian Cricket Family for priority access to tickets or explore travel options through the CA Travel Office.
“We have received enormous interest from overseas and interstate fans, and we are working closely with state and territory governments to enhance and grow our major events. The 2025-26 Ashes is expected to attract a huge number of visitors, and we look forward to delivering an unforgettable series,” Morrison stated.
