Hardik Pandya dealt with a heavy blow after PBKS vs MI match

Mumbai Indians‘ captain, Hardik Pandya, has been fined Rs 12 lakhs for his team’s slow over rate during their thrilling nine-run victory over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024. The match, held at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, saw Mumbai Indians post a competitive total of 192/7, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav‘s blazing 78 off 53 deliveries. In response, Punjab Kings, despite a valiant effort led by Ashutosh Sharma’s stunning 28-ball 61 and Shashank Singh‘s 41, were dismissed for 183 in 19.1 overs.

The slow over rate during the match resulted in Pandya being fined. The Indian Premier League released a statement saying, “Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Punjab Kings at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on April 18.”

As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offenses, Pandya was fined Rs 12 lakhs. The victory propelled Mumbai Indians from ninth to seventh position on the points table, securing their third win in seven games. In contrast, Punjab Kings dropped a spot to ninth after suffering their fifth defeat of the season.

Mumbai Indians’ next match is scheduled against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on April 22.
