How Jadeja was Almost About to Leave Chennai Super Kings team last year

Ravindra Jadeja‘s captaincy was taken unceremoniously by the Chennai Super Kings during the IPL 2022. While Chennai Super Kings experienced a second season without making the playoffs, Ravindra Jadeja was at the center of a tragic series of events. Jadeja almost was about to leave the team and was upset over the removal of captaincy

The Controversy

The team went on a terrible run under Jadeja last year, culminating in them crashing out of contention for the knockout stages for just the second time in their IPL history, just two days before the start of the season. He was fired from his position, which was then swiftly returned to MS Dhoni, who has been their illustrious captain since the IPL’s inaugural season and guided them to four league championships in addition to making the playoffs in all but one of the seasons prior to 2022. Jadeja was dropped from the squad citing an injury for the last few games of the season.

Jadeja allegedly left the team hotel in the latter part of the season, according to reports. The “air of misunderstanding” between all parties was cleared after the 34-year-old had a “long, frank chat” with Dhoni and CEO Kasi Viswanathan, according to Cricbuzz. Jadeja reportedly opened up to MS Dhoni and Viswanathan on “what irked him” and what he expected in the future.

The trio conducted two one-on-one sessions in which Jadeja reportedly revealed that he was upset over a couple of issues. The first was that the captaincy was taken away from him and the second was that he was not being able to perform at his best. Usually, one of Chennai Super Kings‘s most potent players with bat, ball, and in the field, Jadeja scored 116 runs at an average of 19 and claimed five wickets at an economy rate of 7.52. The captaincy may have ended up being a burden for him and impacted his performance, according to Cricbuzz. Jadeja stayed back after India’s third and final ODI against Australia and joined the CSK camp.
