Lucknow Super Giants made some significant moves at the IPL 2024 Auction despite having the lowest purse. They acquired pacer Shivam Mavi for a substantial ₹6.4 crore, aiming to fill the gap left by Avesh Khan in the pace department. Mavi’s addition strengthens their bowling attack and adds depth to their squad. Another notable acquisition was M Siddharth, for whom LSG engaged in a bidding war, ultimately securing his services for ₹2.4 crore.
In addition to their bowling reinforcements, LSG also focused on bolstering their all-round and batting options. They signed David Willey for ₹2 crore and Ashton Turner for ₹1 crore, adding valuable depth and experience to their squad. The franchise also made some economical yet strategic buys, including Indians Arshin Kulkarni and Mohd. Arshad Khan for ₹20 lakh each.
Before the auction, LSG made a smart move by trading Avesh Khan for Rajasthan Royals opener Devdutt Padikkal. Avesh’s successful stint with Lucknow, where he took 26 wickets in 22 matches, made him a valuable asset that fetched them a promising player in Padikkal. Overall, Lucknow Super Giants made calculated decisions to strengthen their squad for the upcoming IPL season.
