Renowned cricketer Jacques Kallis has expressed his confidence in Rinku Singh’s ability to play the finisher’s role for India at the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled for June 2024. With a striking career record, including 180 runs at a strike rate of 187.50 in ten T20Is, Singh has captured Kallis’s attention and earned his endorsement for a crucial batting position.
Speaking about Singh’s prowess, Kallis stated, “He’s a class act. You know, as we’ve seen over the last few months, what he’s done for India. Finishing games. It’s not just silly cricket. It’s real good cricketing shots when it needs to be.”
“He can attack when he needs to do that towards the back end of an innings,” Kallis emphasized, highlighting Singh’s ability to make impactful contributions.
Kallis praised Singh’s maturity, stating, “So you know the ideal batter to be batting at number six. Along with the rest, the team, that’s a formidable finishing to an innings.”
He expressed the significance of Singh’s role in the team, saying, “In case one doesn’t come off, you know, you’ve got a few others that can step up and do it. So for me, Rinku should be the number six and given a proper opportunity.”
While Singh faces competition for the finisher’s role, Kallis firmly believes in Singh’s potential, concluding, “So for me, Rinku should be the number six and given a proper opportunity.”
