Vaibhav Suryavanshi lit up the Sawai Mansingh Stadium with a breathtaking 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans, becoming the youngest player in IPL history to reach the milestone. The 14-year-old’s unbeaten 101 off 38 deliveries helped Rajasthan Royals chase down a daunting 210-run target with eight wickets and 25 balls to spare.

Right after the match, Vaibhav reached out to his father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi, with a heartfelt “Papa, pranaam.” The emotional exchange, later posted by Rajasthan Royals on social media with the caption “Sanskaar”, resonated with fans across the country.

Family First: A Son’s Tribute

Vaibhav didn’t hesitate when asked who he would call first after the game. “Pahle call papa ko hi karunga,” he said with a modest smile. His father, overwhelmed with joy, thanked RR team manager Romi Bhinder for identifying Vaibhav’s talent. He also expressed gratitude towards Rahul Dravid and the support staff for nurturing his son’s growth.

The young cricketer credited his mother, Aarti, for her sacrifices. “She wakes up at 3 AM daily to prepare meals for me after sleeping only a few hours,” he revealed. His father quit his job to support Vaibhav’s career, while his elder brother kept the household running through difficult times.

Breaking Records and Setting Standards

Vaibhav’s 35-ball ton broke Yusuf Pathan’s record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian. Only Chris Gayle, with a 30-ball hundred, sits ahead overall. Born three years after the IPL’s inception, Vaibhav became the first player younger than the league itself to score a hundred in it.

Rajasthan Royals had invested ₹1.10 crore in the young prodigy at the last mega auction, almost four times his base price. Vaibhav has already represented India U-19 and made his first-class debut against Mumbai in January 2024.

Eyes on the Future

Despite the praise and spotlight, Vaibhav remains focused. “I want to play for India. That’s the ultimate goal,” he said. “I will not stop working hard until I wear the Indian jersey.”

With a mature head on young shoulders and unwavering family support, Vaibhav Suryavanshi looks poised to become one of India’s brightest cricketing stars in the years to come.
