Marizanne Kapp talks about her match winning performance against Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals’ seamer Marizanne Kapp delivered a standout performance in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) match against UP Warriorz, held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on February 27. Kapp’s exceptional bowling spell saw her claim three wickets while conceding just five runs in her four overs, earning her the Player of the Match award. Delhi Capitals convincingly defeated UP Warriorz by nine wickets.

Expressing her satisfaction with the victory, Kapp admitted to feeling nervous before the game. “Was happy when we won the toss, was nice to go out there and bowl,” she said. “Pleased with the win. Tried to put some training into my bowling, and changed a few things. I am just happy, was nervous coming into this game,” the 34-year-old added.

Kapp, who enjoys bowling with the new ball, highlighted that this was the strategy for her bowling. She claimed the key wickets of Vrinda Dinesh, Tahlia McGrath, and Alyssa Healy early in the innings.

In their chase, Delhi Capitals’ opening pair of Meg Lanning (51) and Shafali Verma (64) put up an impressive 119-run partnership. Lanning was dismissed after reaching her half-century, but Verma remained unbeaten as Delhi comfortably chased down the target with 33 balls to spare. Jemimah Rodrigues hit the winning runs with a boundary off Sophie Ecclestone’s delivery.
