Mohammed Siraj, a long-time player for RCB, has come back to the Chinnaswamy to produce his best-ever figure at the stadium. He has taken 3 wickets for just 19 runs.
Mohammed Siraj was a regular feature in the RCB side for 7 straight years. He has played the majority of his IPL career for the side. He was even the go-to bowler for the RCB captains over the years. However, ahead of the mega-auction for IPL 2025, he was let go by the franchise.
In the mega-auction, Siraj was signed by the Gujarat Titans. The franchise paid him a whopping INR 12.25 crore. It is learnt that Ashish Nehra, the GT coach, ranks Siraj very highly. Therefore, the franchise went after him in the auction. In the two matches before this, Siraj wasn’t able to produce extraordinary results. He picked up 2 wickets in 2 matches.
In the ongoing match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Siraj has completely destroyed the batting lineup of his former team. He was impressive with the new ball as he swung it around. He bowled Devdutt Padikal to start the proceedings. Next up, he dismissed the dangerous Phil Salt to bring the RCB side to panic mode.
RCB tried to regroup and make a comeback in the match. Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma stitched a crucial partnership. Livingstone went on to score a half-century. However, Siraj came back again in the death overs. This time, he dismissed the set batsman Liam Livingstone to give his team an edge. Livingstone, an attacking player, could have wreaked havoc at the end of the inning. He was dismissed for 54 runs. He was caught behind by Jos Buttler.
RCB tried to rebuild their innings after the initial shocks. With the help of Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma and Tim David, they scored 169/8. However, it was not going to be enough at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Gujarat Titans chased down the total easily with 8 wickets in hand under 18 overs. Jos Buttler scored an impressive half century and remained unbeaten at 73.
