Quinton de Kock throws away the helmet to catch a screamer against RR

Quinton de Kock is known for taking unbelievable catches. The South African wicketkeeper has continued doing that in the ongoing season of IPL. Playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders, de Kock took a stunner when he threw away his helmet to take a catch and dismiss the RR captain Riyan Parag. The catch came off the bowling of KKR’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Parag was going strong against KKR, having already hit 3 sixes. de Kock’s catch applied serious breaks on RR’s momentum.

KKR bowling first against RR

In the 6th match of the season, KKR decided to bowl first at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Ajinkya Rahane, the KKR captain, claimed dew to be a reason for his decision to bowl first. Moreover, he said that by bowling first, they will be able to understand the pitch better. Being a slow and turning pitch, it looks tough to play shots in Guwahati. KKR hopes that dew will help them ease the chase and win the match.

It is the first match being played in Guwahati this season. The north-eastern city is going to host one more match this season, which will see RR and CSK going against each other.

Hasaranga and Moeen debut for their franchises

The ongoing match has also seen two players debut for their respective franchises. Wanindu Hasaranga, after missing the first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, debuted for Rajasthan Royals in place of Fazalhaq Farooqi. The Sri Lankan spinner will hold key for Rajasthan on a slow Guwahati pitch. For Kolkata Knight Riders, former England and CSK all-rounder Moeen Ali has made a debut. He has replaced Sunil Narine who missed out for being unwell. Ali brings balance and experience to the Kolkata side. With his explosive batting and dependable bowling, he will be an important player for KKR this season.

Both teams looking for their first win

Both KKR and RR lost their opening match of the season. While KKR lost to Bangladesh in the season opener, RR were blown away by SRH in Hyderabad. Safe to say, both the teams will be looking to get off the blocks with a win against their name.
