Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant, currently in the USA with the Indian team for the T20 World Cup, took some time to virtually connect with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounders Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh. The heartwarming video call, posted on KKR’s social media channels, showcased Pant’s sportsmanship and camaraderie with his fellow cricketers.
KKR Celebrates with Former Teammate
KKR, the newly crowned champions of IPL 2024, shared a delightful video featuring their star players Rana and Singh engaged in a video chat with Pant. The celebratory mood was evident as Rana and Singh proudly displayed their winner’s medals while expressing their joy at securing the title after a decade-long wait for KKR.
Rinku Singh, who played a crucial role in KKR’s successful campaign, spoke about his experience. Despite batting in only 11 innings, he managed to score 168 runs with an impressive strike rate of 148.67. Though he expressed a desire for more opportunities to showcase his talent, Singh acknowledged the team’s strong showing throughout the tournament.
“Everyone played a big part in the team’s success,” said Singh, crediting the contributions of all his teammates. He also lauded the return of mentor Gautam Gambhir, highlighting the positive impact Gambhir’s presence had on the team’s strategy, particularly the decision to promote opener Sunil Narine.
World Cup Dreams and USA Bound
While Singh expressed his delight at being part of the IPL-winning KKR squad, he also acknowledged his disappointment at being named a reserve for India’s T20 World Cup squad. However, he displayed remarkable determination, stating his ambition to contribute to India’s World Cup campaign in any way possible.
“A dream of mine is fulfilled but there’s one more – the World Cup,” Singh declared. He revealed his plans to join the Indian team in the USA, emphasizing his commitment to supporting the team despite not being part of the playing eleven.
The video call concluded on a lighthearted note with Singh expressing his excitement about joining Pant in the USA. This heartwarming interaction highlights the strong bonds within the cricket fraternity, even across rival teams.
