Gujarat Titans’ young batting sensation Sai Sudharsan has taken the IPL 2025 by storm, becoming the new Orange Cap holder after a match-winning performance against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. With this knock, Sudharsan also became the first player to cross the 300-run mark this season.
Sudharsan, who scored a scintillating 82*, surpassed LSG’s Nicholas Pooran to claim the top spot in the run-scorers list. Pooran, who had been holding the Orange Cap with 288 runs in five innings, now trails Sudharsan’s 300 runs in six innings. The match between LSG and GT on April 12 proved to be the turning point in the Orange Cap race.

Sudharsan’s elevation to the top of the run charts has also boosted Gujarat Titans’ batting confidence. Alongside Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill, Sudharsan has become a vital cog in GT’s top order. Meanwhile, Pooran and Mitchell Marsh have powered LSG’s batting exploits, forming one of the most dangerous middle orders in the tournament so far.
As IPL 2025 progresses, fans are also keeping a close eye on the all-time greats. Virat Kohli continues to dominate the all-time highest run-scorers chart with a staggering 8190 runs. Active players like Rohit Sharma, David Warner, and Shikhar Dhawan follow him.
Player | Runs | Highest Score | Matches | 50s | 100s | Fours | Sixes |
Virat Kohli | 8190 | 113* | 249 | 56 | 8 | 721 | 280 |
Shikhar Dhawan | 6769 | 106* | 221 | 51 | 2 | 768 | 152 |

Suresh Raina | 5528 | 100* | 200 | 39 | 1 | 506 | 203 |
With half the season still to go, the race for the Orange Cap is far from over. Sai Sudharsan has laid down the marker, but players like Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, and Jos Buttler are right on his tail. As the league intensifies, expect more fireworks from the batters in the upcoming weeks.
