The Punjab Kings are playing their fifth match of the season against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. PBKS batters did a great job in setting a huge target of 246. SRH are now chasing the total. PBKS all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was bowling to his compatriot Travis Head when a controversy erupted.

Maxwell reviews

Bowling his first over of the match, Maxwell was taken for runs by the SRH openers. However, on his second ball of the spell, the controversy erupted. Maxwell bowled a flatter delivery just going down leg to Travis Head. The on-field umpire called it a wide instantly.

However, Maxwell believed Head had got something on it. He appealed strongly. When the umpire didn’t seem to agree, he called for a review himself.

Shreyas Iyer unhappy

Maxwell’s decision to call for a review without asking Shreyas Iyer, the PBKS captain, didn’t seem to impress the latter. Iyer was visibly frustrated and even lost his cool on his own bowler. Eventually, he gave in to his bowler and the keeper, but he was not impressed with the incident.

No wicket, no wide

When the ball was reviewed by the third umpire, it was found that neither the on-field umpire nor the bowler was right about it. The ball had actually brushed the thigh pad on its way through. There was no bat involved. It also, then, wasn’t a wide delivery, either.

PBKS vs SRH

Meanwhile, PBKS batted first against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. In their innings, they were solid with the bat. There were significant contributions from the top-order. Priyansh Arya, the centurion from the last game, scored 36 off just 13 balls. Prabhsimran scored 42, while captain Shreyas Iyer scored a scintillating 82 off 36 deliveries. A cameo at the end from Marcus Stoinis meant that PBKS ended the innings strongly on 245.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are chasing the total at the moment and seem to be on track. Travis Head scored a quick 66 with 9 fours and 3 sixes before being dismissed by Chahal. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma has scored a century already, as SRH look set to chase the total with ease.
