Lucknow Super Giants have one of the best, if not the best, batters in T20 cricket at the moment. Nicholas Pooran is setting T20 tournaments ablaze with his aggressive style of batting. In another display of his talent, he blasted a quick 61 against the Gujarat Titans to help LSG win the match.
Playing against the table toppers GT, LSG bowled first. GT scored 180 in their inning and set a target of 181 for LSG. Sai Sudarshan scored another fifty. Shubhman Gill scored a fluent 60 off just 38 balls. In reply, LSG made a new experiment. In the absence of opener Mitchell Marsh, captain Rishabh Pant promoted himself to the top. However, he could only score 21 off 28 and was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna.
Pant was replaced by Pooran. Markram and Pooran joined hands to ensure LSG stayed ahead of the game. They batted positively and never let the pressure build up. Markram was dismissed for a fine knock of 58 off 31.
Nicholas Pooran top-scored again in the match. His 61 off 34 balls was instrumental in LSG’s run chase. The former West Indies captain struck 1 four and 7 sixes, scoring at a strike rate of 179.41. He was dismissed by Rashid Khan.
Despite his fall, he had ensured LSG was far ahead in the game. A fine knock from Ayush Badoni, who remained unbeaten, meant LSG won another game. GT’s streak of 4 wins was, thus, broken.
Pooran has stood out in the tournament so far. He holds the Orange Cap with 349 runs in just 6 games. He has scored 4 fifties at a strike rate of 215.43. His highest score so far has been against KKR, where he scored 87* off 36 balls.
Fans have been in awe of Pooran for his sensational batting. Social media is flooded with praises for the batter. Many fans believe he is the benchmark of T20 batting and that his bat does all the talking.
