Shardul Thakur Takes 200th T20 Wicket in IPL 2025 Match

Indian pacer Shardul Thakur achieved a big milestone in T20 cricket. He completed 200 wickets in the format during the match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2025. The game took place at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Shardul bowled a brilliant spell. He ended with figures of 2 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs. His spell was crucial as LSG restricted GT to 180/6 despite a strong start by the Gujarat openers.

Thakur shines with late wickets

Shardul bowled two tight overs in the powerplay. He came back in the death overs and delivered two overs at the end. In the final over of the innings, he took two wickets in two balls. He dismissed Sherfane Rutherford and Rahul Tewatia.

These wickets helped LSG stop GT from scoring more runs. GT had a great start with Shubman Gill scoring 60 and Sai Sudharsan making 56. They added 120 runs for the first wicket. But Shardul’s spell slowed them down in the last few overs.

200 wickets in T20 cricket

Shardul has now taken 200 wickets in T20 matches. He reached this milestone in his 174th match. According to ESPNcricinfo, his average is around 27 and his economy rate is above 8.9. These numbers include all T20 matches – domestic, IPL, and international games.

Out of his 200 wickets, 103 have come in the IPL. He has played 101 IPL games so far. In IPL 2025, he has already taken 9 wickets in 6 matches. This shows his good form this season.

A key player for Lucknow

Shardul is a key player for LSG this season. He bowls in the powerplay and at the death. His ability to take wickets at important times helps the team. With more games left in the season, LSG will hope that he continues to perform well.
