WPL 2023: Can RCB still qualify for the knockouts?

The Royal Challengers Bangalore lost miserably to the Delhi Capitals last night. Bangalore didn’t look in control of the game at any point. Well, that has been the story for the franchise throughout the tournament. With 5 losses in 5 games, RCB are at the bottom of the table and are almost out of the tournament in theory. But,

Is there still a chance for RCB to qualify?

Well, RCB can still qualify, but as it has always been with the male counterpart of the franchise, the equation seems a little complex. For RCB to win, fate has a huge role to play and alongside fate, RCB need to play some unbelievable cricket.

Here’s how the equation works. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, both have games against the UP Warriorz and the Gujarat Giants. Both of them need to win these games at all costs for RCB to proceed further in the tournament. However, the result of the clash between these two franchises would not

Moving next, Gujarat Giants, who currently sit in the 4th place in the table, need to defeat UP Warriorz in their one-off game. And then, to put the cherry on top of the cake, RCB have to win all three of their remaining games, and that too by amazing margins if they wish to match the NRR of the top 3 teams.

Now, if RCB are lucky, and fate really listens to their prayers, the points table would look something like this:

Mumbai Indians76112
Delhi Capitals76112
Royal Challengers Bangalore8356
UP Warriorz8264
Gujarat Giants8264

*This points table does not take into account the clash between MI and DC

Now, the chances of this happening are one in a million, but yet possible. RCB will need to get their prayer mode on in order to be able to qualify for the knockouts.
