Star Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to leave Mumbai and join Goa in domestic cricket. Jaiswal grew up in Mumbai and has developed his game in the city. Now, he will captain Goa.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to leave his domestic side and join Goa. He expressed his desire to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The MCA has granted him the NOC, and he is now eligible to join Goa.
Goa has provided Jaiswal with an opportunity to lead the team. Jaiswal wasn’t the captain for the Mumbai side. Nor has he captained the Indian team. So, Jaiswal has taken the opportunity with both hands.
In a conversation with The Indian Express, he said, “Goa has thrown me a new opportunity and it has offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India and whenever I’m not on national duty, I will be playing for Goa and try to make them go deep into the tournament. This was an (important) opportunity which came my way and I just took it,” he explained.
Jaiswal expressed his gratitude for Mumbai. The young batter mentioned that whatever he is today is because of Mumbai. He said that he will forever be indebted to the side. “It was a very tough decision for me. Whatever I am today is because of Mumbai. The city has made me who I am, and all my life, I will be indebted to the MCA,” he said.
Jaiswal has risen through the ranks in Indian cricket very quickly. Over the last two years, he has been India’s leading run scorer in Tests. He has scored 1914 runs in his short career of 17 first-class matches already. The 23-year-old was India’s highest run scorer in the home series against England and in the away series against Australia. He will be showcasing his talent for Goa now whenever he is not playing for India.
