Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, actor-choreographer Dhanashree Verma, have once again found themselves at the centre of divorce rumours. The speculation began after the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram, with Yuzvendra going a step further by deleting all his pictures with Dhanashree.
Dhanashree, on the other hand, still has pictures with Yuzvendra on her profile, but their social media activity has fueled talk of trouble in paradise. Sources close to the couple have confirmed to Times of India that the divorce rumours are indeed true.
“The divorce is inevitable, and it’s only a matter of time before it becomes official. The exact reasons for their separation are not known yet, but it’s clear that the couple has decided to move on with their lives separately,” the source revealed.
The Rumour Mill
Speculation around the couple’s relationship status started in 2023 when Dhanashree dropped ‘Chahal’ from her name on Instagram. Adding fuel to the fire, Yuzvendra posted a cryptic Instagram story around the same time that read, “New life loading.”
While the couple dismissed the rumours back then, their recent actions on social media have brought them back into the spotlight.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s Denial
During the first wave of rumours, Yuzvendra took to social media to clear the air, urging fans not to believe in or spread misinformation about their relationship.
“I humbly request everyone not to believe or spread rumours about our relationship. Please don’t believe in such stories. They are false,” he wrote.
However, the recent developments have reignited discussions, with fans and media outlets alike wondering if the couple is heading toward a formal separation.
A Love Story That Started with Dance
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma tied the knot on December 11, 2020, in a ceremony attended by close friends and family. Their love story began during the COVID-19 lockdown when cricketers were stuck at home with no matches to play.
Dhanashree opened up about their first meeting during her appearance on Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 11.
“During the lockdown, no matches were happening, and all the cricketers were at home. Yuzi decided one fine day that he wanted to learn dance. He had seen my dance videos on social media, and back then, I used to teach dance. He approached me to be his student, and I agreed,” she said.
