Zimbabwe Cricket has revealed its squads for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka , featuring three ODIs and three T20Is, commencing on January 6.
Craig Ervine has been appointed as the captain of the ODI side, while Sikandar Raza will lead the T20I team. Notably, veteran all-rounder Sean Williams will miss the tour due to a side injury, while Wessly Madhevere has been excluded following his suspension for breaching anti-doping regulations.
Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Milton Shumba, and Tony Munyonga have retained their positions in the 50-over squad after their inclusion in the series against Ireland. Additionally, Tapiwa Mufudza has been called up after a standout performance in the Pro50 Championship 2023, where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker with 18 scalps.
Following the resignation of head coach Dave Houghton after the series against Ireland, Walter Chawaguta has been named as the interim coach. Zimbabwe had a challenging year under Houghton’s leadership, failing to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023 and missing out on a spot in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
The ODI series will commence on January 6, 8, and 11, followed by the T20I series on January 14, 16, and 18.
