Fan Writes Emotional Letter to Rohit Sharma Amid Lean Patch

Out of form Indian skipper Rohit Sharma received a heartfelt note from one of his young fans. The youngster, Yathaarrt Chhabria, expressed unwavering support for his idol despite Rohit’s current struggles with form.

A Heartfelt Letter of Admiration

In his emotional note, Chhabria described Rohit as the reason he started watching cricket. He shared his admiration for the Mumbai cricketer’s elegant batting and leadership. He also urged him to stay positive.

“To my idol, my favourite player and the greatest batsman of all time. I know I will be representing millions of others as I say this, you are the reason I watch this beautiful sport and I am so lucky to be born in an era blessed to watch your elegant batting.”, the fan wrote.

“Form is temporary, class is permanent. It doesn’t matter even if you haven’t played a big innings recently, I can see that you are on the right track, and you will tear teams apart in the Champions Trophy. Your 3 sixes yesterday were amazing. I had to sit and watch the match while in maths class, but it was worth it.”, he further added.

“Haters will hate, but your leadership is top notch. You are the best character on the field and you have succeeded as both, a player and captain in EVERY SINGLE FORMAT. I’ve followed you forever and watch every game just for you. Please just never retire, I can’t imagine how I’d turn on the TV and feel if i don’t see you walking out to open the innings.”

“I am a 15-year-old well-spoken and passionate boy. My dream is to be a sports analyst and I have even completed an internship in association with Rajasthan Royals. If you could help me out in any way, please do let me know. I love you, Rohit and I know you will return to the best of your abilities very, very soon.”, the young fan concluded.

The fan praised Rohit’s leadership across formats, calling him a “success in every single format.” He concluded the letter with a plea for Rohit to never retire, stating he couldn’t imagine cricket without him.

Rohit’s Recent Struggles

Rohit’s lean patch has extended into the Ranji Trophy, where he scored just 3 and 28 against Jammu & Kashmir. This dip in form follows a tough international season. During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rohit managed only 31 runs across five innings and dropped himself for the final Test in Sydney.

India’s captain also led the team through consecutive Test series losses to New Zealand (0-3) and Australia (1-3). These results have amplified scrutiny of his batting and leadership.

Rohit is set to return to international action in the upcoming ODI series against England, beginning February 6. This series will serve as vital preparation for the Champions Trophy.
