Abhishek Kumar Dalhor has been picked by Kolkata Knight Riders as a net bowler after two great seasons of the Indian Street Premier League. The star all-rounder from Majhi Mumbai emerged as one of the consistent players in the league.
Abhishek Kumar Dalhor was one of the mainstays of Amitabh Bachchan-owned Majhi Mumbai. The most expensive player in the ISPL history helped the side win title in the second season of the league, held earlier this year.
He scored 324 runs and claimed 33 wickets in just 19 matches. The Ambala-born cricketer won the Player of the Tournament Award in the inaugural season and went on to win the Best Bowler of the Tournament Award in the second season, as per the ISPL press release.
It did not take much for Abhishek to become the fan favourite. It was his match-winning spirit and efforts on the field along with the hardwork and talent that made him everyone’s favourite. He started his cricket career by playing in various local tournaments across the country. However, it is the Indian Street Premier League that has given him the fame he deserves.
The ISPL has emerged as a tennis-ball T-10 cricket league that offers a platform to many street cricket players who once wanted to become Tendulkar. The way IPL gives platform to talented local players, the ISPL works as a platform for passionate players who always do not get the required training.
Now it is time for Abhishek to prove himself in the IPL ecosystem. No wonder being part of one of the biggest IPL team’s net practice on regular basis will help him grow. The opportunities to meet the biggest players of world cricket and to learn from them at such an early stage of his career will be fruitful for Abhishek. His selection by KKR also proves how ISPL is true to its mission of bringing talents from streets to stadiums.
