Rohit Sharma’s horrid run of form continues. The former MI captain has been struggling to score runs for many months now. Despite showing some sparks early on in innings, he gets dismissed without making much of a contribution. The batter failed again against DC.

Rohit starts aggressively against DC

Batting first against DC, Mumbai Indians‘ openers started the inning in a positive manner. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton struck a few boundaries early on at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi.

Sharma crunched two exquisite fours to remind people of his potential. He even hit a six, albeit top-edged. It seemed like Sharma was finally back in his groove. Fans believed Rohit would turn things around tonight.

Vipraj dismisses Rohit

The excitement was short-lived. Rohit had taken fast-bowler Mitchell Starc to the cleaners. However, he fell to young leg spinner Vipraj Nigam. Nigam bowled a quicker one on a good length. The ball slid in with the angle. Sharma looked to sweep the ball. However, it went under the bat and hit him on the back leg.

A review was taken for the decision, and the ball-tracking showed three reds. It would’ve crashed into the leg stump. It was another failure for the star batter. Vipraj was delighted to dismiss the Indian captain.

Rohit’s horrid form

Rohit Sharma’s miserable form continued. In the season so far, Rohit has scored 56 runs across five innings at an average of 10.8. Sharma has scores of 0, 8, 13, 17, and now 18.

Fans slam Rohit

Fans online took it to register their complaint against Rohit Sharma. They criticised Rohit for his ‘careless’ approach and that he doesn’t put a price on his wicket. Some fans even claimed that Rohit’s failures do not come off as an anomaly anymore, his success does. Some fans compared him to Virat Kohli. They said that while Kohli takes some time and ensures he scores runs, Rohit just plays a loose shot and gets dismissed.

MI score 205/5

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians posted a strong total against the Delhi Capitals. Batting first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, they have posted 205/5 in 20 overs. This is the first game of the season in Delhi. MI opener Ryan Rickelton scored 41 to give MI a fiery start.

Surya Kumar scored an impressive 40 off 28 balls. Tilak Verma was the star of the inning as he scored 59 off just 33 balls. At the end, Naman Dhir played a cameo of 38 off 17 balls to take MI past 200.
