Virat Kohli has reached yet another remarkable milestone in his illustrious cricket career. On April 13, 2025, during an IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Kohli became the first Asian batter to score 100 half-centuries in T20 cricket. This achievement adds to his already extensive list of records and further solidifies his legacy as one of the greatest T20 players of all time.
Kohli completed his 100th half-century with a six off Wanindu Hasaranga while chasing 174 runs in the IPL 2025 clash. He reached the landmark in just 39 balls and finished with a knock of 62 not out, guiding his team to a comfortable nine-wicket victory in 17.3 overs. This half-century was Kohli’s third of the season, and his swift innings played a key role in securing the win for his team.
In addition to reaching 100 half-centuries in T20s, Kohli also matched David Warner’s record for the most 50+ scores in IPL history. Kohli has now accumulated 58 fifties and eight centuries in 258 IPL matches, while Warner, who has scored 62 fifties and four centuries, set the benchmark for 50+ scores in the league. Kohli’s consistency in the IPL is unmatched, and his record is a testament to his longevity and ability to perform year after year.
Earlier this week, Kohli achieved another historic feat by becoming the first Indian batter to score over 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. He now joins an elite group that includes Chris Gayle, Alex Hales, Shoaib Malik, and Kieron Pollard. Kohli’s performance in T20Is for India has been exceptional, with 4,188 runs in 125 matches, including a century and 38 half-centuries. This is yet another milestone that highlights Kohli’s dominance in the shortest format of the game.
