James Vince lit up the National Stadium in Karachi with a breathtaking century that guided Karachi Kings to a historic win against Multan Sultans in their PSL 2025 opener. Chasing a mammoth 235, Vince anchored the innings with a blazing 100 off just 42 balls, marking his seventh T20 century and the fastest ton in PSL history.
Vince began the chase with solid support from Tim Seifert before forming a game-changing partnership with Khushdil Shah. After being reduced to 79/4, the duo added 142 runs in just 67 balls, dismantling the Sultans’ bowling attack. Their aggressive stand particularly targeted spinners Usama Mir and Michael Bracewell, swinging the momentum entirely in Karachi’s favor.
Earlier, Multan Sultans rode on Mohammad Rizwan’s sublime century to post 234/5. Rizwan got key support from Kamran Ghulam and Michael Bracewell, ensuring a massive total on a good batting surface. Their bowlers struck early blows too, reducing Karachi to 79/4 and putting them in deep trouble.
But Vince and Khushdil turned the match on its head. Vince reached his ton with a flurry of boundaries, but was run out soon after. Khushdil also departed shortly after Vince. Still, Irfan Khan Niazi and Abbas Afridi held their nerve to finish the job with four balls to spare, sealing one of the biggest run chases in PSL history.
After the thrilling win, James Vince was named the ‘Dawlance Reliable Player of the Match’ for his heroic knock. But what truly caught fans’ attention was the quirky award presentation in the dressing room. Instead of a conventional trophy, Karachi Kings’ owner gifted Vince a hair dryer, turning it into a lighthearted and memorable moment.
The team shared the moment on social media, with fans praising Vince’s performance and enjoying the humorous gesture. It was a perfect start to Karachi Kings’ campaign, both on and off the field.
