Both teams would be eager to play the finest squads and try to win the prestigious series because the highly anticipated Ashes series between England and Australia is just around the corner. Australia, under the leadership of Pat Cummins, presently holds the storied urn following a 4-0 Ashes victory in 2021–22.
The Ashes series, which is set to start on June 16, has already had a tumultuous lead-up in England. The most recent player to get hurt was 29-year-old Ollie Robinson. Due to an ankle issue, the pacer was forced to sit out Sussex’s game against Glamorgan. In the morning session, he bowled eight overs before withdrawing for the remainder of the day.
Following pacer James Anderson‘s injury and Jofra Archer’s elbow fracture, Robinson was the third player to get hurt before the Ashes. Robinson’s ankle issues might be a significant issue for the Ben Stokes-led team heading into the English summer.
England will initially face Ireland in a one-off Test match that will start on June 1 before to the Ashes. It was already debatable if Anderson would play in the one-off Test, and now Robinson’s participation is also very uncertain.
Sussex head coach gives an update on Robinsoon’s Injury
After the pacer had an injury, Sussex’s head coach, Paul Farbrace, spoke forward to discuss the situation. The coach downplayed the injury’s importance. Robinson was recently spotted using crutches, which led fans to wonder if he had an ankle injury.
“He’s got a sore ankle, and he’ll be scanned on Monday to see how bad he is. We knew it was sore yesterday; that’s why we got one spell out of him this morning. We knew that he was sore, and it’s walking more than anything. It’s not actually the running part that makes it sore; it’s walking. It’s a joint decision between our medical team and the England medical team,” Paul Farbrace was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
