Avishka Fernando’s Record Knock Leads Sharjah Warriorz to Win

Sri Lankan batter Avishka Fernando played an amazing knock to help Sharjah Warriorz beat Dubai Capitals by five wickets in their first home game of the ILT20 season. Fernando smashed 81 runs off just 27 balls, including the fastest-ever fifty in ILT20 history, and finished the game with 11 balls to spare.

Captain Tim Southee Praises Fernando

Warriorz skipper Tim Southee couldn’t contain his excitement post-match. “To chase down a score like that and to witness Fernando’s innings was incredible,” Southee said. “He got off the plane this morning and produced something truly special.”

At the halfway mark, the Warriorz faced a daunting target of over 200 runs. Duminy revealed the team kept things simple during the break. “We knew the pitch was good and just focused on playing to our strengths,” he said. “This lineup will never lack intent; consistency is our next goal.”
