Reports say the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) may be rescheduled due to security issues.
On April 6, KKR was set to face LSG at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, but due to Ram Navami celebrations, Bengal Police informed the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) that they cannot provide full security at the venue. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari had earlier announced that over 20,000 processions would take place in Kolkata on the same day.
According to PTI, CAB President Snehasish Ganguly stated that the authorities clearly said they won’t be able to provide adequate security at Eden Gardens. He added, “If there’s no police protection, accommodating a 65,000-strong crowd becomes impossible.” Ganguly also mentioned that CAB has informed BCCI about the situation, and a final decision is yet to be made.
Back in 2024, a match between KKR and RR was also rescheduled due to Ram Navami celebrations.
Eden Gardens is also set to host the first match of the season, where defending champions KKR will face RCB on March 22.
