Travis Head was riding his luck against the Mumbai Indians on Thursday. The batter was dismissed twice on two balls by the MI captain. However, he still remained on the field. Here is the reason.

Head dismissed on a no-ball

On the fourth ball of the tenth over, Hardik bowled a full delivery at the stumps. Head whipped it off the pads and picked out Jacks perfectly at deep mid-wicket.

Head was off to the dressing room. However, suddenly the siren rang. It turned out that Pandya had overstepped, so it was a no-ball. Head was called back. The next ball, thus, was a free hit. Hardik Pandya bowled it short and into the wicket. Head got a toe-end to the ball as he tried to drag it from the offside to the onside. Mitchell Santner, placed at long-on, caught the ball.

However, Head remained at the crease as it was a free hit. Thus, despite being dismissed on consecutive deliveries, Head was not out.

Scratchy inning

Travis Head did not have a great day with the bat. Although he got a reprieve by being dismissed on a no-ball, he couldn’t capitalise on it. He was dismissed a couple of overs later by Will Jacks. Jacks bowled a flight delivery outside off. Head tried to play a lofted drive. However, his bottom hand came off, and he couldn’t control the ball.

Mitchell Santner caught the ball again at long off. Head was dismissed for 28 runs. However, he faced 29 balls to score those runs. It was very unlike Head to score at such a rate. In fact, a strike rate below 100 is seen as disastrous in T20 cricket. SRH expected Head to turn things around. But the Australian couldn’t.

SRH score 162/5

SRH ended up with the score of 162/5, thanks to some power batting at the end.
