In a touching display of camaraderie and mentorship, Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya lived up to a promise he made during the Women’s Premier League 2025. He gifted all India’s rising all-rounder Kashvee Gautam a specially customised cricket bat. The heartwarming moment took place just before Mumbai Indians’ high-voltage IPL 2025 clash against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
The story dates back to WPL 2025 when Kashvee Gautam, playing for Gujarat Giants, expressed her admiration for Hardik Pandya. She had even scribbled “HP33” on the back of her bat, a symbol of the inspiration she drew from Pandya’s game and character. During the tournament, she was introduced to Pandya by her teammate Harleen Deol and shyly requested a bat. Pandya smiled and said, “Bat milega”—a promise that would stay with her.
Fast forward to April 13, 2025. Ahead of MI’s game, Hardik met Kashvee in the stadium and fulfilled that promise.
Kashvee was gifted a bat weighing approximately 1100 grams, crafted to suit her playing style. Not only did Pandya ensure it was lightweight and match-ready, but he also added a personal touch by signing the blade and writing a message for her future:
“This is for you. Play with it, and if you like it, I’ll make more. All the best for your India debut.”
The gesture was more than just symbolic—it was a show of faith from a seasoned cricketer to a young star about to step onto the international stage. Overwhelmed with emotion, Kashvee thanked Hardik and later took to social media to post:
“Champions don’t just play the game—they inspire and uplift the next generation. Thank you for keeping your promise, Hardik bhaiya.”
Kashvee Gautam has been making headlines since her standout performance in the WPL 2025. Her fearless batting and disciplined medium pace earned her a maiden India call-up. She will feature during the upcoming tri-nation T20I series featuring South Africa and Sri Lanka. Her India debut is seen as the beginning of what many expect to be a long and impactful international career.
Hardik Pandya is known for nurturing younger talent and leading by example. He spoke about the meeting with genuine appreciation for the youngster:
“I’m proud of her. Players like Kashvee represent the future. When I found out she wrote my initials on her bat, it felt special. It was my duty to honour that kind of respect. She’s got the right attitude, and I hope she goes on to become a big player for India.”
