Tristan Stubbs is a promising talent. The young South African has a great reputation, and people believe he can turn out to be a great batter for his side in the future. Stubbs has already shown the range of his powers. His father has revealed how he has idolised KL Rahul, his new teammate, throughout childhood.
Talking to The Times of India, Christopher Stubbs revealed that Tristan Stubbs has always loved KL Rahul. The South African has looked up to Rahul and always wanted to play like him. The young batter loved watching him bat.
“He [Tristan] always loved KL Rahul. He would just say, ‘If I could bat like that, he’s the best batsman I’ve ever seen.’ He used to love watching him,” Christopher Stubbs said to The Times of India.
Stubbs is having a dream come true. The batter is playing for the Delhi Capitals this season. More importantly, his idol KL Rahul has joined the same team, and the two have shared the crease too.
In the match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the two batters came together to stitch a brilliant 111-run stand to take their side home. The local boy, KL Rahul, was instrumental not only in scoring runs but also in making Stubbs calm and focused.
Delhi Capitals’ success this season owes a lot to KL Rahul. In the intense game against the Rajasthan Royals, the DC batters huffed and puffed to tie the scores. Both teams ended up with a score of 188.
For the Super Over, Rajasthan batted first and scored 11 runs. In reply, DC chased the target in 4 balls. With the batter on the side being KL Rahul, it was a delightful experience for Stubbs to win the match for his team. He also scored 31 runs in the 12 balls he faced during the match.
When Stubbs was feeling the heat, it was Rahul who calmed him down. He said, “KL told me to take your time, this is all about handling pressure.”
