Kuldeep Yadav is back to competitive action following his recovery from groin injury. Sharing a video on Instagram, the left-arm spinner confirmed the same. His name reportedly is going to be a vital point of discussion in the selection meeting for Champions Trophy.
By sharing an Instagram video, India leg-spinner gave a major update on his recovery. Kuldeep had to go through surgery from a specialist in Germany after missing the Border-Gavaskar series in Australia. He was last featured in the first Test against New Zealand in October and then went out of action following the groin issue. In the video, speaking to The Telegraph, Kuldeep explained, “My recovery went quite well and I’ve been bowling for some time now. I’m feeling good (about my progress).”
His personal coach Kapil Pandey who is helping Kuldeep with his recovery, explained, “He has started bowling over the last 10 days or so. He’ll be coming to Kanpur after January 25 or 26 and we’ll then work further on his line and length, spin and other technical matters. By then, he should be getting the NCA’s clearance too. We’re quite hopeful about his Champions Trophy selection.”
With the Champions Trophy selection making the headlines, Kuldeep’s coming back to action could be a good news for India. A BCCI source said to the Telegraph, “Whether he will be selected or not depends on his fitness, but he will be discussed for sure in the selection meeting. After all, he’s a champion bowler in all formats.”
Kuldeep has been India’s one of the mainstays in recent times. He was the leading spinner for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup and also starred in India’s victorious 2024 T20 World Cup campaign. India’s 3-match series against England could a good preparation for Kuldeep to prove his match fitness before the Champions Trophy.
