During the IPL 2024 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), one of the field umpires, Yeshwant Barde, faced an unfortunate injury when he was hit in the shin by a shot from SRH batter Rahul Tripathi. The incident occurred in the 10th over of the match when Tripathi hit a straight shot down the ground. The ball deflected off the fingers of bowler Suyash Sharma and struck Barde, who was unable to move out of the way. Barde went down on the field and required immediate medical attention.

The SRH physiotherapist quickly attended to Barde, spraying the swelling shin and applying a strap around the area. Fortunately, Barde recovered from the hit and was able to resume his duties as an umpire for the remainder of the match. Despite the injury scare, Barde’s resilience and the prompt medical assistance ensured that the match could continue without further interruption.
In the match, KKR posted a challenging total of 207 runs, with Andre Russell shining with the bat, scoring a blistering 64 off just 25 balls. Phil Salt also impressed, notching up a half-century on his KKR debut. In response, SRH are struggling to chase the total as they are constantly losing wickets and the runrate is creeping up.
